St. Andrews

hi

Long time since I last updated, so I thought that now would be a good time. Lots has happened so I'll just stick with the recent stuff.

Last weekend Jonney, Monika and myself welt up to St Andrews in Scotland to see Ally. It is a pretty cool place actually. On Saturday we took a look around the 'city' which basically consists of 3 parallel roads interjumbled with old buildings and ruins, including a nice colapsed cathedral and castle. Coventry Cathedral is obviously broken better than theirs though :). Only posh people live in St. Andrews and you only rarely see a common peasant, apart from Ally of course! It was fun running along the beach there and humming the 'chariots of fire' theme (Bum dum da-da-dum..dum. Bum bum da-da dum ti ti ti etc.). You can just imagine it.
On saturday afternoon we had a trip to the mountains above Dundee. They were really impressive, especially as they were covered in snow. We stopped the car, had a walk and also made a snow halk which Jonney is going to show a picture of on his blog (aren't you Jonney!).
Saturday night I stayed in Ally's room, while Jonney and Moni stayed in a bed and breakfast in Dundee. We played Settlers of Catan a few times together. I met John, Hannah and Jason, three of Ally's friends, the initial two of which he is sharing accomodation with next year. It wasn't a surprise that Ally had got them adicted to settlers too :P
On Sunday, it snowed in St. Andrews, which was great, and just like the day before, we decided to make good use of it! On the way home, the roads were terrible (or very cool, depending on whether you like driving in the snow or not) so we didin't arrive back in Stoke until 11:30. We kept ourselves well entertained by listening to J.R.R Tolkien's 'The Silmirillion' though. Well worth the read/listen.

Anyway, today I had my midway report at my placement. It seems that I am not doing as well as I thought :( Ah well. I have been given lots of areas to work on, so hopefully by the time I have my final report, I will be worthy of a good grade. With God's help.

God bless you all. See you later
